Lechaim is a comic play in which a great deal of drinking takes place. It is early morning. Hanna and her son Michael are sitting in an outdoor café. They are supposed to be going to the cemetery, so that Michael can say the traditional prayer for his late father. But Ginger Jake, who is also at the café, teaches them what life is all about, and that it doesn´t matter where you say the prayer fot the dead. The most important thing is to make ir through to the next morning.
Arnon Grunberg was born in Amsterdam in 1971., became the youngest employee at the Dutch Business Information and Directories Publishing Company., founded his own publishibg house, tried in vain to become an actor, wrote several plays and poems, and then the novel Blue Mondays. This was awarded the Anton Wachter Prize for the best first novel published in the Netherlands and has been sold to eight other countries, including the United States and Germany.
